Dungeons and dragon (Prologue)

Dungeons and dragon

Okay, I am back again after maybe 2 or 3 days. I need to clear my head first. I don’t know what the hell I am doing with my life but I need to understand this. What do I have to understand? That's the thing you need to figure out. Understand? Are you a teacher or something? Anyways. Let’s begin writing an Epic! Yes, with dragons and wizards. Where the battle is held against mages and warlords. You dare defy me! Says the elder mage. Know your place as a warlord! You have been abandoned by the elder academy of magic unless you stop killing and looting villages.

You are nothing but a sad old mage who will die soon. Time is a curse I tell you. You should join me before the inevitable and we shall rule the lands of Tameria.

Old mage sight and turns back, reminiscing the days of young Valehan and how he used to work his way with people. The cunning look and the mischievous smile depict as if a great big plan is swirling inside his head that nobody knows.

I should have closed the gates of this academy before your arrival. You seem to have no interest in learning magic but rather, in acquiring our brightest of minds. You were young back then and I thought of changing your ways but I was a fool to think likewise. Then the old mage started walking back to his office. I have no interest in your dispute said the mage, you should return to your petty war where you belong.

Then dozens of armed men entered the hallway with weapons and spears pointing at the old mage. That was not a request. Said Valehan, I need you on the battlefield to stop this once and for all. With the victory on us of course.

The old maze stood still, lost in thoughts. He is strong enough to wipe these soldiers with his magical powers but wise to not create a mess inside his academy. He knew too well that this day would come. Magic was discovered and perfected to aid humanity but people would use such resources to lay waste and start a war. Human greed and their lust for power can turn any resources into the ultimate weapon of mass destruction. He knew too well that Valehan, leader of the Kaban clan, wouldn't rest until he got what he needed, even if it meant turning this academy into ruins. He could fight back, but he had lost too many dear lives of his fellow students in the great mage war. He won’t let that happen again, not within the walls of the academy.

I have known you too well, old man and I know that you would never wage a war inside the academy. Your utmost priority is the safety of your students. As a student myself, I ask you humbly to come with me and I will leave this glorious magic-making academy alone.

What do you want from me? I am an old mage, I will be nothing but a burden to you and your men.

Valehan walked around the old mage and he could feel the old mage's tall appearance but his eyes darted into the distance as he stood in front of a tall lingering old man. Valehan knew he hated war and the loss that came along. Listen, old man, Margool has returned and they are using dark magic to pummel our army. They have an undead army and they are undefeated by our brute force. You hear what I am saying, old guy. They are using necromancy to bring back the dead. Forbidden magic.

The Mage shifted from a distant wall to Valehan's face. He looked tired and desperate but his spirit was unwavering.  He looked like an ordinary man except for the shining general armor he wore, but you could see the dirt and dent into them caused by the meham in war. He never had the physique of a muscular man but he knew his way around people through diplomatic talks. But this time, his enemies were no human to reason with but ghouls, warlocks,s, and orcs who would not stop until their regime of terror was known all through the lands.

People are dying at the hands of the undead and later turned into their own. I need you to stop this magic nonsense and fight with honor.

Honor hmp. Sighted old mage. Honor was never your strong suit and now you beg for my aid? You were a reckless child back then but now you are grown up so you should take responsibility for your actions. His heart couldn't resist the word of necromancy. Not only is it forbidden but destruction to nature. A disturbance of nature he could not sit back to unfold.  However, said the old mage, this dark magic should be abolished or we will be the ones to face the consequences. A safe sanctuary like this school is nothing but a myth when I can’t undo the war outside.

So you're saying you will help us?

No. I am totally against war but I must do something about necromancy. Undead people growing in numbers is bad news for humanity and I am doing this to stop the rise of the undead.

Valehan nodded his head in approval and commanded their men to get ready for departure. We don’t have time for farewell said Valehan, you collect your things while I do my preparations.

While returning back, the old mage saw Valehan with three of his apprentices. Rowan the physicist, Sadok the alchemist and Dera the spellcaster. These mischievous four used to run around wreaking havoc within the academy. While Rowan and Dera were wise and peaceful, Valehan Sadok convinced them to fool around and cause a disturbance. They were there to keep in check that nothing of harm was done to the students and their properties. After they graduated, Rowan and Dera pursued their different sector as a teacher but Sadok had other plans to learn the arts of dark magic, so he pursued the position of a teacher just to access the ways to learn dark magic.

Ahh, it’s good to be back with you boys. The four of us against the world. It felt like yesterday when we used to muck around these hallways and get punished by elders. I wish we could go back to simpler days. Nevertheless, we are here to fight against our common enemy. We are going on an adventure guys, and this time, a real one.

What are you guys doing up here this late? Said the old mage carrying a hefty bag on his shoulder. Muddled by the question, the three looked at Master Orkwa caring. But master, didn’t you say you were going to the battle? Said Dera. Yeah and we are coming with you said Sadok. Orkwa looked at Valehan and the mischievous smirk on his face said it all. He was able to convince his three friends to join him. Of course, he was always able to convince those three to get involved in any kind of trouble when they were still learning. This was different, they were now risking their lives.
